E-waste Data to Power the Green Digital Action Hub at COP30

Belém, Brazil, 10 November 2025 — The newly launched Green Digital Action Hub (GDA Hub) at COP30 will serve as a global platform to accelerate digital innovation for climate and sustainability. Anchored in Brazil, the Hub brings together governments, industry, and research partners to align digital transformation with climate goals — with a strong focus on the Global South.
As part of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), SCYCLE will contribute its global expertise in e-waste data, indicators, and digital monitoring systems to the Hub’s work. Reliable data on electronic waste, materials recovery, and product circularity are essential to track progress and support countries in designing evidence-based digital sustainability strategies.
Within the Hub, SCYCLE will help develop open-access data tools to monitor e-waste flows, emissions, and circular economy performance — supporting the dual ambition of “greening digital” and “greening by digital.” These efforts will build upon SCYCLE’s long-standing work on the Global E-waste Monitor and related data partnerships.
“By linking data-driven insights with hands-on training, we aim to help countries accelerate responsible digital innovation that supports both climate goals and circular economy transitions,” said Michelle Gyles-McDonnough, UNITAR Executive Director.
